FelPro Pontiac Head Gaskets

I am building a 455 (as mentioned in previous posts) and ordered a new FelPro 1016 Head Gasket to match the one I already have. Only problem – it doesn’t match. One is black, the other is blue, yet they are made by the same mfg, with the same part number. I want another one of the black/orange – how/where do I get it? I thought ordering the same part number would suffice. Hmmm.

I have a favorite picture of the car that I wanted to share. It should be big enough for anyone wanting a nice desktop image. Thanks to Dad for snapping this one (and the slight photoshopping done :)

I read an article that was from last year about the similarities between all the different kinds of motors and what helps them stay “together”. He said two things ultimately contributed to the feasibility of maintaining an engine. Cooling and lubrication. Brilliant.

We typically try to go to the starting line with our motor sitting at 180 degrees. But what if we could have it cooler? I wonder what that would do for us performance-wise. I feel like we run the risk of sputtering off the line. Perhaps we are engaging our secondaries too quickly. Hmmm. It got me thinking about buying a high performance radiator and considering the options of cooling our oil. We don’t typically have heating or oiling problems when the motor is cool, and during time-trials. But during the later rounds, at night, it starts to become an issue. Well, not really an issue, but something that we have in the back of our mind. Unless it is 60 degrees out – we are typically doing everything we can to keep things cool like pulling the hood, turning off the car early to coast and other things.

I found the article insightful and will be trying to keep those factors in mind when I engineer a motor.

WhoWon.com … The Internet Source for Motorsports News and Information.

I’m so thankful to have plugged into Ernie Saxton’s Motorsports Sponsorship Marketing News. The information in the few publications I have already received has been UNBELIEVABLY valuable. We will be stepping up our sponsorship marketing efforts during this season and the most exciting part is that I believe we will really be contributing to providing positive marketing exposure to our clients. I’m really looking forward to it.
